Production/Planting/Harvest-Foreman

Summary

Coordinates water wagon applications, assists in the supervision and coordination of the crews’ activities, while engaging in production and harvest activities of crops.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Coordinate with manager/supervisor to determine type of work required, number of workers required, sequencing of fields, and timing schedule.
• Coordinates scheduling, calibration, use and maintenance of water wagons.
• Maintains an accurate schedule, application log, and chemical inventory.
• Oversee crews as they do planting, staking, cleanup, and other cultural practices necessary to produce crop.
• Oversee harvest and transport of tomato crop; harvest, transport, and packing of pinks.
• Inspect work in progress and finished products to assure quality of job is satisfactory.
• Communicate with other department foremen and supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.
• Ensure all REI’s or proper PPE is observed and followed.
• Analyze and resolve work problems or assist workers in solving problems.
• Maintain equipment to ensure proper operation and calibration.
• Establish or adjust work procedures to meet production schedule.
• Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and efficiency of workers.
• Maintain worker’s time records.
• Immediately report any accident or incidence of injury to supervisor.
• Aid in interpreting, training and compliance of company policies, Safety Rules, GAP, and WPS guidelines.
• Assist with maintaining food safety program.
• If housed, pump duty may be assigned.
• Other projects and duties as assigned.

Supervisory Duties

Equipment Operators, Labor Leaders and seasonal laborers.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

• High school education or general education degree; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• One to two years or related training and/or experience
• Ability to work a flexible schedule and overtime as needed
• Must have valid Driver’s License
• Bi-lingual preferred
• Travel required
