Transportation Dispatcher

Summary

Assists in the supervision and coordinating activities of employees engaged in verifying and keeping records on outgoing shipments, and preparing items for shipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Study daily orders and other records received from sales to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping schedules.

• Oversee outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
• Inspect loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications.

• Oversee movement of packed produce to assigned rows for storage.
• Print new manifests when trucks arrive to make sure there are no changes and directs forklift drivers to load trucks and place temperature recorder when needed.
• Check loading manifest to loaded truck for accuracy and prints proper documentation.
• Issue written and oral instructions.
• Study and standardize procedures to improve efficiency of subordinates.
• Maintain harmony among workers and resolve grievances.
• Print necessary documents for sales and billing at end of day.
• Adjust orders for changes received from customer or sales.
• Assist other locations or departments as needed.

• Assist in scheduling deliveries so they arrive at customer locations at designated times.

• Ensures that all regulations are followed and enforced as outlined in our food safety program (H.A.C.C.P.).
• Other projects and duties as assigned.

Supervisory Duties

Responsible for assisting in the supervision of drivers and garage foremen.

• High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and/or training.
• Two to three years of related training and/or experience.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule and long hours as needed.
• Must be able to operate a computer using standard office software.
